Creating Your Personal Sacred Space

PictureNectar of Life Red Tent Mother Altar
To create the experience of coming to Temple while we gather online, it is important to take some time prior to our meeting to create your own sacred space. You may choose to practice a sacred bathing ritual, quiet meditation, burning temple incense, smudging, dressing or wearing a special piece of jewelry that symbolizes your personal Divine expression, etc. prior much like you might do before coming to Temple physically. This allows your doing mind to gently loosen and allow your being mind to open to receiving the blessings the Temple of the Goddess offers.

Behind the scenes, our Temple is cared for daily by the Mother of our Temple, Snake Maiden. This altar space holds the measure of our stories, ceremonies, and the deep Medicine we have shared each month for six years. The Goddess Oracle card that was pulled from the most recent Tent is placed on this altar during our monthly ceremony and remains there until our next gathering.

The Keepers have been charged to hold the 4 corners of our Tent throughout the month, thus creating the structure and holding the Bones.

Each of you, our Sisters, bring the flesh and the life blood when you come to Temple.

The Priestess brings the Heartbeat and pulse of what is to be.

You may opt to create your own altar to further connect yourself to the nourishment of Tent. The Keepers and I suggest the following:

  • Amanda, charged with holding the North/Earth/Spirit, suggests placing a crystal, stone, piece of wood, or leaf you may have been led to from an outside adventure to create your personal altar.

  • Singing Otter, the Grandmother of our Temple, charged with holding the East/Water/Child Self, suggests placing a sea shell to hold water collected from a natural moving source, i.e. stream, lake, river, ocean, Manitou Well, etc. to create your personal altar.

  • Alys, charged with holding the South/Fire/Warrior Self, suggests placing a red candle, gemstones such as fire agate, garnet, opal, or clear quartz crystal, a magnifying glass with the intent to magnify the power of the Sun (Fire) and Self, a red flower or chili pepper to create your personal altar.

  • Snake Maiden, charged with holding the West/Air/Wisdom Self, suggests placing a naturally shed feather found along your journey, you may also choose to work with a Turkey feather and imbue it with the Spirit of the bird of your choosing, Turkey acts much the same way as clear quartz crystal in that it is transmutable, or a piece of sodalite to create your personal altar.

  • In the center of the altar, Snake Maiden suggests placing a rose or clear quarts in the shape of a heart or an image of your patron Goddess/Goddess you are working with, or your personal Yoni sculpture to connect the elements and your intention. You may choose to keep you altar setup and active throughout the month or building it prior to ceremony and taking it down thereafter.

By creating a personal altar with the recommendations above, we are collectively connecting our intention to each be in sacred space and to be connected to the Mother Altar. Our Mother Altar is connected to the Great Web of the Goddess, Divine Feminine, and the radical change/birth occurring as we give rise to a gentler, kinder, harmoniously balanced New Earth and shift in the Collective Unconscious.

Surrender into knowing you are your own deepest love.
